Here is a brief capsule with just a few of the helpful tips and healthy scriptures found in Kate’s Faith and Fitness Fit Guide:

  • Nutritionally Fit=Eat naturally- Drink lots of water, get plenty of rest and eat more of what God made!
-Eating living foods God made will fuel our living cells the nutrients they need to reproduce and overtake dead, cancerous cells.
-Did you know your stomach is slightly larger than your fist? Use this as a guide to how much to eat at each sitting if you want to lose weight. Also, put your fork down in between each bite. Chew each bite 30 plus chews for better digestion.
-Keep a food diary and write down what you eat for a week. This will allow you to see where you could cut back on excess sugar, white flours or pastas and sugary drinks. And read food labels!
-Salmon, blueberries, avocado, kale, garlic and walnuts are considered superfoods- nutrient dense foods-that provide maximum nutrition and health benefits. Add these to your diet.
-Genesis 1:29- Then God said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you".

  • Physically fit = Exercise daily-Do something physical each day, stretching, walking, jump up and down praising God. Getting our heart rate up helps our nutrients and blood flow correctly throughout bodies, not clogging the arteries.
-A favorite exercise is my spiritual surf walk, walking in the ocean surf just above my ankles. I get aerobic exercise as well as the anaerobic pull of my legs while toning and praising God!
-Walk around the restaurant parking lot after a meal out or go for a short walk after a home cooked meal. This will help reduce belly fat and get your digestive process working! Remember walking is a perfect time to talk to God about everything!!
-3 John 2 - Dear friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit.
-1 Corinthians 6:19-20- Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, 20 for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.
  • Spiritually fit = Experience God-God desires an intimate, personal relationship with us, not a religious one.
-Meditate on scripture, or a few of the 5000+ promises from God in a One Year Bible reading plan each morning, read a daily devotional and pray at all times thanking God for all He has done for you.
-There is healing power in praise, thanksgiving and gratitude!
-The Bible is still the best-selling book of all time and has God’s instructions for us on how to succeed in every area of life.
    - God created us and wants to help us with everything including our fitness goals. When you receive Jesus as Lord and Savior you also receive the Holy Spirit-the same spirit power that raised Jesus from the dead to empower, assist and enable you to accomplish anything in life!
-Romans 14:17-For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
-Hebrews 11:6- And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
-Matthew 11:28-Then Jesus said “Come to me all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you because I am humble and gentle and you will find rest for your soul. For my yoke fits perfectly and the burden I give you is light.”
  • Relationally fit = Encourage others-You are not alone. We all struggle with something or have struggled in the past.
-God will use our story and our experience, strength and hope to express His love through relationships with others.
-Sharing your story gives you new confidence, strength and purpose.
-Forgive as God has forgiven you.
-Find an accountability partner with whom you can confide.
-Consider mentoring someone and be willing to be mentored by someone who has different, maybe greater life experiences than you.
-Call a mentor or Fit partner to tell them what you are doing which will give you both encouragement, ask them how you can pray for them this week.
-Colossians 3:16- Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
    - Galatians 6:2-Bear one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ. Two are better than one in life!
  • Emotionally fit = Enjoy Life!-Rejoice always with an attitude of gratitude and be thankful and let your joy minister to others!
-The healing spirit of joy comes from the security of knowing who God is and how much He loves us.
-True joy is not based on our circumstances or emotions but on His Word and promises! Remind the devil the Bible says he is going to lose in the end and we are victorious!
-God created this beautiful earth for us to enjoy.
-Having excitement and joy in our lives keeps our endorphin levels flowing, our serotonin levels high!
-God says in Psalm 16:11-"I will show you the path for your life. In my presence is the fullness of joy and at my right hand are pleasures evermore!
-John 10:10-Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy but Jesus said “I have come so that they may have life and life more abundantly”
-1 Peter 2:9-But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praise of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.

When we intentionally think about successful fit ideas and meditate on God’s healthy scriptures He will transform our life! My life completely changed when I placed my faith in Jesus, let Him be in charge of my life and began searching for answers in the Word. I began gaining God confidence, Spirit help, Spirit effort and Spirit reliance instead of self-effort and self-reliance. I began to let go and let God. He loves us and is not interested in behavior modification but inner heart and soul transformation. The Bible = the Word = Jesus = God = Holy Spirit so it is the powerful Word of God that can totally transform us from the inside out. Followers of Christ have the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit living on the inside of us- that’s the same power that raised Jesus from the dead-to help us accomplish anything in life including get fit, healthy and whole!
